Journalism

From 1982 to 1999, Decker wrote about how the art world works, starting with service and news stories and progressing to a wide scope of articles, from news items and book reviews to award-winning investigative pieces, notably about works of art looted during World War II and not returned to their pre-War owners. He also wrote in-depth stories about major museums and collections, including The Barnes, Getty, Guggenheim, and Modern, and wrote about major artists’ estates: those of Georgia O’Keeffe and Pablo Picasso. Decker was among the leading reporters on the art market, covering collectors, auctions and private sales, frauds, and lawsuits.
